SUMMER 2008 WINE OFFERINGS

As promised!

We, as per last letter, are going to 4 releases a year so as to not overwhelm you with 6 or more wines like last fall. It gives us the opportunity to consider a club but that has not been completed yet. Suggestions wanted. An added plus is that I don’t have to write as much per letter.

Drake has been doing wonders at the winery, computers, racks, and files and doing almost all the winemaking, with my hairy eyeball on him, and Alyssa, until she goes off to get her doctorate at the University of Maryland in August, has been manning the tasting room so well I wish she could stay. I just go in to be around them both. Now for two spectacular wines!

2006 Clover Creek Vineyard Syrah
Located near the Santa Ynez Airport and sourced from Ric Longoria this is our first commercial syrah and we are very proud of it. Thick with berries, Logan, huckle and bramble with hints of forest floor earthiness while full with slight tannins. Lush in the mouth with a long finish. As good as syrah gets, as are the ones we have in barrel still. Kind of a Lagrein replacement if you will.

2006 Bien Nacido Pinot Noir “N” Block - “This is the “N”, my only friend, the “N”
What looks to be the last one, we took the best two new barrels and made the wine to die for. Very lush, super rich with the best PN nose I’ve had from the vineyard in 17 years. Very balanced and doesn’t stop finishing. Don’t miss it.

Cheers,
Chris
